Commemorative Coin : Malaysian Armed Forces 80th Anniversary

The origin of the Malaysian Armed Forces dates back to the formation of the Malay Regimen on 1 March 1933. With the formation of Malaysian on 16 September 1963, The Regiment was officially known as the Malaysian Armed Forces. 


Eight decades have passed which saw the Malaysian Armed Forces evolved from the colonial to a Full Spectrum Force. The long and arduous journey was not one without the sacrifice of blood, toil, sweat and tears as Malaysians were able to enjoy peace while prospering from the peaceful environment maintained by the Malaysian Armed Forces


Today, the Armed Forces continues to serve the nation on the ever shifting geo-strategic environment, domestically and also beyond our shores.

With states-of-the-art technology in implementing the man, machine and method approach, the Malaysian Armed Forces continues to preserve peace in the country and contribute to nation building.


This coin was minted to commemorate the Armed Forces' eight decades of evolution toward becoming a Full Spectrum Forces. It serves to remind us of the sacrifices, efforts and legacy of the forebeares of Malaysian Armed Forces.

The three platforms depicted on the coin : the PT-91 Pendekar Main Battle Tank, The Scopene Submarine and the Sukhoi Su-30M Fighter Aircraft reflect the integration of the surface, subsurface and aerospace dimensions of the modern battle.


This Coin is a testimony to the Malaysian Armed Forces' endeavor to be a modern and effective Full Spectrum Force.
